Happy New Year Everyone!
I realize I haven’t posted in this blog for quite some time. We’ll, life happens.
As you can see from my previous posts, I probably did not finish the challenges I had set for myself. I was doing the subscription based business as well as the Amazon Challenge.
A lot of things have happened over the last couple of months and I got distracted with my business. For example, I went from losing a major client in my website design business and hence has to scrape for dollars. Things have been, quite rough, I must say over the past couple of months.
At this time, I do not have a stable income source. And the funny thing is majority of the online ventures I am in have some expenses. Apart from this, I am the sole breadwinner in my young family. Yes, you heard it right.
I was blessed with a baby girl on March 28th 🙂
My girlfriend is currently staying at home to take care of the baby and hence I am the sole provider.
How Have I Been Surviving?
Well, like I said before dollars have been tight. I have a couple of web hosting clients that renewed their hosting accounts the last few months. Apart from that, I have been writing as a freelancer for Zerys, The Hoth and The Content Authority.
At the moment, The Hoth is my primary source of income. I get paid $1 for writing 100 words I a day, I can comfortably write 9 articles, so that’s $36 a day. However, some days there are no articles to be written so I barely reach that target. I would say I am averaging at about $20 per day at the moment.
Well, $20 is not a lot but it’s manageable where I live in Africa. Currently, I am try to ensure I make at least $500 per day to be able to cater for my bills (house rent, office rent, baby expenses, household expenses, et al.)
As you may already think, $20 is way too low on my journey to making $1m. I’ll be $30 this year and if I work smart and don’t get distracted, I can make $1m in 10 years (by the time I’m 40). $1m isn’t too shabby for someone in Africa.
What’s the Dealie Yo?
Okay, with the baby now in may life, I realize I need to work a lot harder for my family. I wouldn’t want to be in a situation where I can’t provide the basic needs for my family. You know, things like education, medication, food, clothing etc. So, I need a plan.
For me, I started the online journey as a freelance writer. I got my first online job at Freelancer.com in 2008, when it was still called GetAFreelancer.com
I am a great writer. I know thing because I have seen my work published in very respectable blogs (although I wasn’t credited since it was work for hire). With cash being tight and no time to wait for unreliable affiliate blog income, I am deciding to get back to writing.
Yes. Inasmuch as I don’t like writing, I have no option but to write. I need the money. Heck, my family needs the money.
So, I have already bought a domain name and set up a WordPress site. I also have decided on the niche I will be covering and monetization method.
I need to work fast. If all goes well, I hope to have made an income from the blog by the end of the month. So, there I go. My 30-Day Blog Challenge starts tomorrow.
